We Have Ended Another Term! But Our Innovations Will Never End!

Image
Hey guys! It's me, Muhammed again.       We are giving a small brake now. But before lying on our beds and opening Netflix, we should evaluate this term. This course, along with the other technology course, has been one of the most fun courses that I took. Its strength is the innovative approach to our boring classrooms. The course helps us to explore new tools and and get familiar with the technology as future English teachers.

We All Love AI! Let's Bring It Into Our Classrooms!

Image
Hey guys!      Before the end of this term we should talk about this. We all enjoy using AI, don't we? Well in fact AI is a really unique tool that can be so useful in language teaching. I will share you our AI-integrated teaching material that I created with my friends as well as talking about how we created it.

Taking My Classroom to TOKYO - Spoiler Alert! AR&VR

Image
Hey guys, I am greeting you from Tokyo.      I am just kidding my friends, I can't take my whole class to Tokyo. I am too poor to do such a thing. But, we all can take our classrooms wherever we want without paying those plain tickets. How? We will use that big power we all carry around in our pants: telephones. This image is created by Google Gemini (Nano Banana Pro).      All right, I will quit joking now. As we all aware internet changed everything in these days. With the help of AR&VR we can visit anywhere in the world by watching 360° videos, images or street views. So why don't we integrate this to our language classrooms? Today I am showing you the way of doing that, leave a comment if you want to share your ideas.      For instance, simulating the whole world in a 360° view known as virtual reality (VR) while augmented reality (AR) is mixing the virtual objects with the real world. For language...

Let Me Flip Your Classroom!

Image
Hey guys!       Our journey of exploring different approaches and tools to improve our students' language learning is going well! Now we tried a Flipped Classroom approach .      The Flipped Classroom approach reverses the traditional learning environment; students acquire new content at home often through videos. And we use class time for active practice and interaction. For language classes, this is a really impressive method as it maximizes the time available for speaking and communicative activities. However, it does come with challenges, such as ensuring all students actually watch the material and have access to the necessary technology.      For our project, we aimed to teach 8 specific vocabulary items selected from 5th graders coursebook Unit 7 Party Time. Instead of isolated drills, we wanted students to experience these words within a real context . Therefore, we created an engaging story telling ...

AI-Enhaced Corpus-Based Activity Desingn; More Engaging Clasrooms!

Hey guys!        We are back with some amazing useful ideas for your classroom. For our Current Issues in Teaching course, our group was asked to create an AI-enhanced corpus-based activity and a lesson plan using the ASSURE model that explains how we are going to apply it. Our target was 10th-grade Turkish EFL students (B1 level), and we chose the grammar point “must vs have to (theme 1)" from the given book.      We designed a colourful worksheet consists of six activities that guides students step-by-step through SKELL . The worksheet teaches “must” and “have to”, asks students to observe real sentences, match functions, sort examples, and finally complete a pattern-discovery table using line numbers as evidence. The last two activities introduce ChatGPT : students paste real sentences to get explanations and then write their own school-life sentences and receive instant AI feedback. The design is clear, visu...

Farewell, Friends and Followers!

Image
As I come to the end of this blogging journey, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what we have done together. Over the past few months, I have shared different classroom tasks and projects that have opened my mind to new ways of learning and teaching. Each experience has shown me how creative and exciting language learning can be when supported by the right tools and ideas. Created by ChatGPT     From digital storytelling to creating podcasts, working on collaborative writing tasks, and designing infographics; every task has helped me see language learning in a different perspective. These activities were not just about completing an assignment. They allowed us to think critically, use language in real situations, and create things with language.     What made these projects special was how they combined technology, creativity, and communication. For example, while making a podcast, we practiced speaking and listening skills in a fun and ...
